Maxima Legal at the English Law Week 2013

Natalia Zelentsova, Maxima Legal lawyer, took part in the English Law Week 2013 held at the British Embassy in Moscow from 18 to 20 November.

The event was sponsored by the leading international associations involved in the establishment of a professional dialogue between Russia and Great Britain in the legal field, such as Bar Council of England and Wales, British Russian Law Association, the Anglo-Russian Law Association and the Law Society of England and Wales. Inspired by the success of the English Law Week 2011 and the Russian Law Week 2012, the sponsors decided to once again invite lawyers of leading legal companies and consulting agencies to a panel discussion to talk over pressing issues in connection with the interaction between the two jurisdictions.

This year's conference was devoted to risk management under English law in the context of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and banking operations. The conference was attended by partners of famous international consulting companies, including Ashurst LLP, Dentons, Baker & McKenzie – CIS, Limited, Golsblat LLP and Capital Legal Services, as well as representatives of English law firms and barristers' chambers, such as One Essex Court, 3PB and Haslam-Jones & Partners.

Understanding the importance of such gatherings, Maxima Legal took the initiative of hosting the next event in St. Petersburg. The proposal aroused sponsors' interest, but is still being considered.
