Sergei is a graduate from the St Petersburg State University’s Faculty of Law and from the University's Faculty of Philosophy where he specialised in Culturology.

Prior to working at Maxima Legal, Sergei worked at a number of Russian law firms and for several years worked for a major consulting company heading its legal department.

Sergei has extensive practice experience in the following areas:

• representing clients in court proceedings and in arbitration;
• bankruptcy/insolvency;
• corporate and commercial law;
• business restructuring;
• mergers and acquisitions;
• due diligence;
• supporting investment projects.

Sergei has authored a number of publications on commercial, insurance and bankruptcy/insolvency law.  

Sergei speaks English.

 Examples of projects in which Sergei has been involved:

• Representing the interests of creditors in insolvency proceedings involving Nevsky Bereg, the owner of one of the largest malt plants in Russia, and a number of related legal matters.
• Consulted by the Blago Group, a major Russian manufacturer of vegetable oils and margarine, in matters relating to the formation of a holding structure, restructuring and obtaining new financing.
• Providing comprehensive legal support for the restructuring of the Russian subdivision of the international holding Mediterranean Shipping Company, a world leader in the field of container logistics.
• Representing the interests of Otkrytiye Bank in an insolvency case of Phaeton-Aero, one of the largest fuel companies in St Petersburg and the Leningrad region, and in the insolvency cases of other companies in the Phaeton group.
• Securing insurance payments from Rossiya Insurance Society in a court case for losses caused by a major fire in a logistical centre in St Petersburg.
